Who can buy
Anyone 21 years of age or older with a valid government-issued photo ID can purchase adult-use cannabis at a licensed Michigan dispensary like High Club. We verify age for every transaction, every visit. Medical cannabis patients must hold a Michigan-issued medical marijuana card and shop at medically licensed counters.
Purchase limits
Each adult-use transaction is capped at 2.5 ounces of flower, or its equivalent in other product forms — 15 grams of concentrate or up to 16 ounces of cannabis-infused product. You can return the next day and purchase again. Medical patients have higher purchase limits and separate rules.
Where you can consume
Only in private residences where the property owner permits use. Public consumption is illegal — that includes streets, sidewalks, parks, vehicles (operating or parked), dispensary parking lots, hotel rooms, and most rental units unless the lease explicitly allows it.
Driving and cannabis
Operating any motor vehicle while under the influence of cannabis is illegal and dangerous. Michigan enforces a zero-tolerance standard for drivers. Even if you feel sober, residual impairment can persist for hours after consumption — plan a ride, plan to stay home, or wait until you're fully clear.
Taxes on cannabis
Adult-use cannabis in Michigan is taxed at 10% excise plus 6% state sales tax. As of 2026, a 24% wholesale tax has been added at the production level — this affects shelf prices but is not itemized at checkout. Total effective tax burden on a consumer purchase is approximately 16%.
